Traditional techniques create unique greetings and stationery designs that feel one of a kind at this year's National Stationery Show in New York. Natural materials like linen and twine are used to lend sincerity to contemporary wedding invitations while intricate laser-cut detailing creates filigree-inspired effects on marriage announcements.

Letterpress was the most common printing technique this year, with the most innovative designs coming out of studios from Brooklyn, New York and Portland, Oregon. There is an overall holistic aesthetic that unites these studios, driven primarily by a desire to create designs that harmonise with nature.

Stylized imagery was another essential ingredient at the show with a wide variety of techniques lending character to gift cards and stationery. From wood block prints to hand painted motifs, individuality was key for innovative print studios.
