Mood 2012: Innovative design

Thursday 13 September 2012

Innovative wallpaper concepts takes centre stage at this year's edition of upholstery, windows and wall covering show Mood. Reflective, three-dimensional and bespoke are the key recurring themes at the Brussels-based fair.

Reflective materials and the incorporation of LED lights are presented by designers; Eijffinger received the 2012 Blue Drop prize for Best Wall Covering with its holographic patterned wallpaper while Meystyle’s graphic result Flux impressed with its incorporation of an electrical socket.

Wall coverings and drapery take new form with an array of enlarged honeycombs, lozenges, lattices and folding origami techniques. Stunt Giraffe’s felted heavy woollen wall panels offer functional aesthetics as well as a manoeuvrable structure.

Responding to customer's tastes and desires, carpet fabrics and textures incorporate unconventional gradient colours and spherical print effects. These methods suit open plan living and working, and use computer controlled carpet printing in order to create bespoke designs.
