Sainsburys Christmas 2012 preview, London

The emphasis is on food for Christmas 2012, with consumers expected to buy into low-cost fine dining at home during a double dip recession. At this summer's previews, supermarkets were specifically promoting British produce in an attempt to aid the recovery of Britain's first such recession since the 1970s.

Food is displayed in its raw and most pure form as if being sold at a traditional farmer's market - with wooden crates and wicker baskets used to display everything from fruit and vegetables through to homemade lemonade and wine. Trolley carts are also used as a charmingly traditional way to display anything from food produce through to home accessories.
