Ukrainian designer Andrey Bondarenko has created Omelette, an alternative supermarket display system for hen and quail eggs.

Constructed from alderwood, the system creates a method of artificial food selection (in a supermarket) which is a more ordered version of the way that food is originally gathered for consumption. The design ties into the larger trend for provenance in food (read our previous blog post), and an emerging trend for foraging (subscribers can read our report, A Forager's Tabletop).
